Prefabricated Tiny Homes
Through our on-going collaboration with Grand River Modular, we are supporting the design and development of a series of small-scale homes that meet the Ontario Building Code definition of "tiny home".
This includes creating variations and options that comfortably accommodate all required functions of a year-round dwelling, kitchen, dining, living, sleeping, and sanitary facilities within a compact footprint.
The OBC defines a tiny home as
-
A private, self-contained dwelling intended for year round use, with all essential living functions.
-
A minimum building area of 17.5m2 (188ft2) and a maximum of 37m2 (400ft2).
Working within these parameters, along with fabrication constraints and the needs of each client, we continue to broaden the adaptability of this low-cost housing model to more sites and communities. Our shared goal is to create homes that are small in size but generous in possibility. Homes that are flexible, efficient, and accessible.
This ongoing work reflects the strength of our partnership with Grand River Modular and our commitment to advancing dignified, sustainable housing options across Ontario. By pairing thoughtful design with precision offsite construction, we are helping make compact homes a viable, resilient solution for a wider range of people and places.
